Basic Questions

1. What is a motorized roller system?
It is an electric drive system installed inside or connected to a roller tube. It rotates the tube to move roller shutters, blinds, awnings, screens, projection screens or similar products up and down.
2. What is a tubular motor?
A tubular motor is a compact electric motor installed inside a round or octagonal tube. It is commonly used for roller shutters, roller blinds, awnings, projection screens and other rolling systems.
3. How does the drive system work?
The internal stator and rotor create rotation, the gearbox reduces speed and increases torque, and the output adapter transfers movement to the tube. Limit settings control the upper and lower stop positions.
4. Which applications are suitable?
Common applications include roller shutters, roller blinds, awnings, zip screens, garage doors, projection screens, pergolas and sunshade systems. The correct model depends on load, tube diameter and use environment.
5. What is the difference between AC and DC models?
AC models are widely used for mains-powered shutters and awnings. DC models are often selected for low-voltage, battery, solar or smart indoor systems where quiet operation and low energy consumption are important.

Selection and Technical Matching

6. How do I choose the correct torque?
Torque should be selected according to curtain weight, tube diameter, friction, installation angle and safety margin. As a simple reference:

Application Common range Typical choice
Small roller blinds 0.8–1.5 Nm 25 mm or small DC models
Medium blinds 3–6 Nm 35 mm models
Roller shutters 10–50 Nm 45 mm models
Heavy doors or shutters 60 Nm and above 59 mm models

For final selection, keep some torque margin instead of choosing the minimum value.

7. Is higher torque always better?
No. Oversizing may increase cost, noise and energy use. The best choice is a balanced model that matches the load, tube size and expected daily cycles.
8. How do I choose motor diameter?
The drive diameter must fit the roller tube. Common choices are 25 mm for small shades, 35 mm for standard blinds, 45 mm for shutters and awnings, and 59 mm for heavy-duty systems.
9. What speed should I select?
For roller shutters, 9, 12, 15 or 17 rpm are common. For awnings and pergolas, 12–15 rpm usually gives smoother movement. Faster speed is not always better if the system is heavy.
10. What control options are available?
Options include wall switch, mechanical limit, electronic limit, built-in receiver, remote control, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, app control and smart home integration depending on the selected model.
11. Can one model be used for different applications?
Sometimes yes, but not always. A light blind and a heavy shutter have very different load requirements. We recommend confirming application, tube size and curtain weight before ordering.

Ordering, Samples and Delivery

12. What information is needed for a quotation?
Please provide model or application, torque, speed, voltage, tube size, control method, quantity, packaging request, destination port and any certification or private label requirements.
13. Can I order samples before bulk production?
Yes. Sample orders are available for quality checking, dimension confirmation, tube matching and performance testing before mass production.
14. What is the standard MOQ?
For standard models, small trial orders can usually be discussed. For OEM labels, special color, custom packaging or non-standard accessories, MOQ depends on materials and production setup.
15. How long is production lead time?
For regular orders, production is often around 25–30 days after payment and order confirmation. Customized orders may need additional time for artwork, samples, tooling or material preparation.
16. Do you provide OEM or ODM service?
Yes. WALTER supports logo printing, private label packaging, accessory matching, model selection, technical adjustment and project-based development for distributors and manufacturers.
17. Which ports do you ship from?
For sea shipment, Shanghai and Ningbo are commonly used. For air shipment or courier delivery, Shanghai and Hangzhou are typical options depending on schedule and destination.
18. How many pieces fit in a 20 ft container?
The loading quantity depends on model size, carton design and accessory packaging. For 20 Nm shutter models with master cartons, around 8,000 pcs is normally safer for loading, while higher quantities may be possible with optimized packing.

Installation and Use

19. Can I install the product myself?
Professional installation is recommended, especially for shutters, awnings, outdoor systems and high-torque products. Incorrect wiring, tube fitting or limit adjustment can damage the system.
20. What is a limit switch?
A limit switch controls the upper and lower stop positions. Mechanical limits are adjusted manually, while electronic limits are programmed and can provide more precise control on selected models.
21. Why does tube diameter matter?
The tube must match the crown and drive wheel. If the fit is too loose, movement may be unstable; if too tight, assembly becomes difficult or parts may wear faster.
22. Are quiet options available?
Yes. Small-torque indoor models can be selected for lower noise. Actual sound level depends on motor type, tube structure, installation quality and surrounding space.
23. Can the same product be used indoors and outdoors?
Some models can be used outdoors if the system design provides suitable protection. For outdoor use, confirm IP rating, cable direction, water exposure, wind load and installation environment.

Warranty and After-Sales Support

24. What is the warranty period?
Standard mechanical models are normally covered by a 5-year warranty against manufacturing defects, unless a different agreement is confirmed for a specific project or product type.
25. What is not covered by warranty?
Misuse, incorrect installation, overload, water damage caused by improper protection, unauthorized modification, incorrect wiring and damage during customer handling are generally excluded.
26. How do I submit a claim?
Please provide order information, barcode or label photo, failure description, installation photos and short videos where possible. We will check whether the issue is related to materials, production or application conditions.
27. Can faulty units be repaired or replaced?
Yes. Depending on the confirmed cause, we may provide repair guidance, replacement parts, credit arrangement or replacement units in a future shipment.
28. Do you provide testing reports before shipment?
Yes. Functional testing, torque testing, visual inspection and packing checks can be provided when required. Please confirm inspection requirements before production.
